Hot of the back of his feature-heavy 2018 mixtape ‘Big Gizzy is Boss’ Gi3MO smacks us about the boat with the featureless ‘The Unmistakable’ a follow up sequel to his 2015 debut solo release ‘The Untold Adventures Of Gary Guttersnypes’

After a booming intro, the project springs to form with ‘Nanklauncher’ in which Giz lampoons lyrical knife/gun rappers (yep, them ones) by performing a cartoonish ode to a fictitious weapon that shoots knives.

The cover art; a polaroid of Giz, aged 18, with his first pair of turntables reflects the type of work you’ll hear further on in ‘The Unmistakable’ the differences between this and Giz’s former work are understated yet tacitly applied with broad strokes throughout. The deal-breaker here? This isn’t the usual hands-off bars, bars approach (while that is still present) Giz has carefully encrypted tales of his life into the DNA of this project. A good example of this is where Giz laments his early years at the beginning of ‘Chapstick’

The project cascades through various BPMs and a smattering of sounds with eastern-inspired Hip Hop thumpers like ‘The Wrap up’ and ‘Hurricane’ Pacey flows and Laid back guitar slaps on ‘Mephestopheles’ then dreamy RnB vibes on ‘But Still..’ and ‘In My Zone’

Produced by Gi3MO and right-hand man KD, ‘The Unmistakable’ still has an overarching sound that somehow ties every piece together, resulting in a coherent listening experience reminiscent of classic 90s Rap but turbo-boosted for the current gen. The clear end message? ONLY GIZ CAN DO GIZ, his unique character and style cannot be attributed to any other artist.
